To glorify God by reaching the V and facilitating a disciple-making movement. Teaching the truths of His Word to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others (2 Tim 2:2).
This minority group has a population of about 1 million people and is therefore the biggest minority group in Cambodia. Most of them live long term in Cambodia, others are in the country only for a few years or shorter, mostly in order to do business. The exact number of people is not clear as it varies and many people don’t have official papers. It is estimated that between 0,03 - 0,2% of this minority group are believers and know Jesus. This means that at least 499 of every 500 people of this minority group don’t know who Jesus is. The worker will reach out evangelistically to the people of this group. He/she will live in an area near people of this group and will build relationships in order to show God’s love to and share His Word with these people. The goal is to make disciples, as Jesus has commanded us, and to facilitate a disciple-making movement.
- The worker needs to learn both Khmer (Cambodian) and the V language of the minority group. - The worker is able to work in a team as well as individually. - The worker loves the Khmer as well as the people of this minority group and is able to disciple them and help them to reach out to others.
- A mature Christian, a deep relationship with God - Prayerful, seeking God's guidance - Experience serving in a local church and teaching and discipling others - A heart for discipleship
The worker lives up country, in a town or a village, or outside the capital city. Living in provincial locations requires a high tolerance for difficult circumstances, such as unstable electricity, lack of quick internet access, difficult roads, no supermarket, no air conditioning, and inadequate medical facilities. Parents must be willing to home-school their children, or use hostel/boarding schooling options. The worker’s housing and living conditions are simple, but all the necessities are available. He/she lives in an area where people of this minority group live, among other people (groups).
Cambodia is looking for pioneers and partners to open new avenues for the Gospel, build up the local church, and disciple believers in the workplace.
